LIFE | Choosing A Coat

Photobucket

powder pink Jil Sander , grey COS, black Topshop Boutique

Autumn starts in exactly one week. Every year I try to hold on to summer as long as I can and postpone buying winter clothes until the weather forces me to; which is usually too late and the best coats are sold out. This year I'm determined and almost a bit excited to get my hands on the perfect coat; I can't wait to wear this fall's oversized silhouette.

I'm going to spring for a new coat this fall too, and since outerwear is my weakness I couldn't be more excited. I love a good coat or jacket! Right now I'm lusting after the goods at Smythe:

But I even spotted this one at Zara that I'm in love with:

Will definitely have to shop around to find the perfect one, something hopefully slightly voluminous and masculine. Let the hunt begin!

I myself often find that the decent looking coats that actually sit good on you are way to pricey. I figured I could go ahead and make one myself. I did a few cocoon coats since that and I can only recommend if you have a sewing machine and some time on your hands to start making your own before winter kicks in.

I did these cocoons earlier if you're interested:

Hi Ivania,
I tried sending you an email as you told me to, but I guess you didn't receive it? Would be fun to meet you while I'm in Amsterdam, so send me an email if you're up for that!

I really like the Jil Sander one, even though I don't go for pink very much. The Topshop one is also great and probably a cheaper alternative. :)

I dread buying a coat every year and not because I'm trying to hold on to warmer weather but because it's usually incredibly hard to find a coat that won't dwarf my 5ft frame. These are beautiful but sadly I fear too long for me =/

Oh my goodness the pink Jil Sander!!!

And also echoing other sentiments about a short frame - I love coats but they never seem to work with my height

Jil Sander. No doubt. ;)

These jackets are simply too lovely.
The absence of embellishment and over-the-top frills is what truly makes them special.

Too bad it doesn't get that cold here where I live! I would love to be able to sport any one of these three amazing coats.
Honestly, it's hard to choose just one favorite out of these three. The Jil Sander one is absolutely perfection in powder pink but the COS one is also so cool with the little collar detail.
Man, oh man, these oversized coats are seriously something.

I hope you have an amazing weekend Ivania! <3
